Sah Amik, an Iranian-American composer, shares his experiences of visiting conflict zones near the Syrian border and witnessing the impact of art on children. He recounts how children in these areas, despite the presence of military conflict, were eager to engage with music and art. This inspired him to create the Fly Carpet Festival, a mobile festival that brings arts to children living in difficult conditions. The festival organizes workshops and performances, including dance, music, and puppet shows, aiming to provide a creative refuge and foster unity among diverse communities. Amik emphasizes the power of art to transcend political and cultural divisions, advocating for its role in promoting social and political progress by presenting issues and allowing individuals to form their own opinions. He believes that education through love and art can lead to a more informed and united society.
